A new branding project I completed for Harrow Hair Company, a new salon that is opening in Edmonton. I met with Bailey, one of the owners, and she expressed a desire for something minimal and clean. She didn't want it to be too much, something that played well with the aesthetic of the salon she was in the midst of designing. She showed me mood boards of inspiration she had for the salon and it had a very industrial feel with a hint of shine. I took this as my inspiration for the concepts.
sketches:
Hair salons can have a lot of cliche images associated with them, which I wanted to stay clear of (but I did drawn them in my sketches just for fun).
initial concepts:
I presented 4 initial logo designs for their consideration. All were very type driven, and they were quickly able to eliminate one design, but wanted to see small tweaks and a bit of copper added (since they knew colour was going to be involved in the final logo).
version 2 concepts:
After this round, they decided on the design they loved, and just wanted to see some colour options. I showed navy, black and gray.
colour concepts:
The navy was the hands down winner, and I am so glad it was! I love a mix of copper and navy, it is a classic combination. It also looked stunning on their new business cards (I will have a separate post for these coming soon).
Harrow Hair Company will be opening soon and they can be found on Instagram if you want to check them out and see the progress on their amazing new space.
